Laird Man is Casualty in Philippines
HaroldBingham is Killed in Action on Luzon Island On April 6.

Mrs. Alice Bingham, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Emil Rutz, former Laird andWray residents who now reside at Otis, received word Saturday morning from theWar Department that her husband, Harold (Babe) Bingham, had been killed inaction on the Island of Luzon, Philippine Islands, on April 6. No other detailswere included in the wire.

The young man was well and favorably known in this locality. He had residedat Laird for many years. He had been overseas for two years and the couple havea son Gary Lee, who had never seen his father. It is reported that the soldierrecently refused a thirty-day furlough in the hopes that he would be able tocome home shortly to remain permanently. Mrs. Bingham has made her home at Otiswith her parents since her husband left for the service. She had received aletter, the last her husband wrote, that was dated April 5, the day before hewas killed.
